What makes a task automatable
Six traits decide it: the task repeats, decisions are rule-based rather than judgment, inputs and outputs are digital, it happens often, the process can be written down, and it touches software with data. The more of these are true, the better the payback. A task that is all six is a prime first automation; one that is mostly judgment or one-off is not worth automating yet.
