Market document
12 best AI consulting firms in Dublin, ranked for 2026
Version 1 for a large Irish estate, Nearform for an engineering-led build, Acuity for board and EU AI Act work, and one of the Big Four when a supervisor needs the opinion signed. Twelve firms, the criteria, and a stated reason for every placement.
How this list was built
Six criteria, stated before the table so you can argue with them.
- Real production systems, not pilots or demos. A case study with an outcome inside it counts. A logo wall does not.
- Hireable as a services firm. Every row here sells delivery or advisory, and the market column tells you where it works.
- A live site and a market we could confirm. Every URL below was requested on 7 September 2026 and returned a live page, and every firm shows an office, a local page or a stated service area for this market on its own site. One firm on the earlier draft of this list showed none of that and came off it, and the numbering closed up behind it.
- Regulatory depth where the buyer is regulated. GDPR under the Irish Data Protection Commission, the EU AI Act, and Central Bank supervision where it applies.
- Honest about fit. The verdict column is the useful one. A firm that fits everybody fits nobody.
- Disclosure. Digiton Dynamics wrote this list and sits last in it, and it is not an Irish firm. Neither are several of the pages ranking above this one, which is what the next section is about.
What this ranking does not use. No row in the table below carries a street address, a company registration number, a headcount, a founding year, an award, a certification or a client name, ours included. Those cells go stale between the day they are copied and the day you read them, and none of them tell you whether a firm can do your job. The ranking is the product here, and the verdict column says plainly why each firm sits where it sits. Every verdict is our opinion and it is signed at the top of the page.
The comparison
| # | Firm | Market served | Focus | Why we rank it here |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Version 1 | Ireland, with a Dublin headquarters and AI studio announced on its own site | AI-first digital transformation, sold as strategy and change work with the technology attached | We rank it first because it is the Irish-headquartered firm here we would trust with a whole estate. Ask what share of your account is modernisation rather than AI. |
| 2 | Nearform | Ireland, working from Co. Waterford with clients internationally | An independent team of data and AI experts, engineers and designers building intelligent digital solutions | Second because it sells engineering rather than advice, which is the right buy when the deliverable is a product. Ask to meet the engineers, because that is what you are paying for. |
| 3 | Gemmo AI | Dublin, with a lab in Milan | Tailored AI sold in three stages, ending in ongoing optimisation, currently led by agents for financial services | Third because it sells the phase most Irish AI projects have no answer for, which is month seven. Monitoring after launch is the part buyers forget to scope. |
| 4 | Clearlead | Dublin, serving clients globally in its own words | Machine learning, language AI, data science and AI strategy | Fourth because founder-led discovery is the right spend when nobody has agreed the problem yet, and the wrong one when they have. Buy it small and buy it early. |
| 5 | Acuity | Ireland, naming Dublin, Cork and nationwide coverage on its own page | Independent AI strategy, governance and EU AI Act readiness, sold on fixed fees rather than day rates | Fifth on the list and first in its lane. It is the clearest Irish competitor to the position this page argues for, and if your problem is a board rather than a build, call it before anybody here who wants to write code. |
| 6 | Square Root Solutions | Ireland, Dublin-based | App and custom software development, with a separate AI line covering development, consulting and model training | Sixth because it is a product studio that runs AI as its own practice next to the app work, which is the right buy when the AI has to arrive inside something somebody is shipping anyway. Ask who owns the model once the app ships. |
| 7 | AI Strategy and Training Ltd. | Ireland, selling to Irish businesses in its own words | AI strategy, implementation, team training and ethical governance | Seventh because groundwork is worth buying separately and early. Do not expect a running system at the end of it. Do expect your staff to stop being frightened of the tools. |
| 8 | Accenture Ireland | Ireland, on the ie-en pages of its own site. Its ie-en homepage redirects to the global site, so this row links to the Irish page that holds. | Enterprise change programmes across strategy, technology and operations | We rank the Big Four together, eighth to eleventh, because you buy them for the size and the signature rather than for the AI. Accenture is the one to call when procurement wants a systems integrator on the hook. |
| 9 | Deloitte Ireland | Ireland | Audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management and tax | Ninth for the same reason. Right when the deliverable is partly an opinion an audit committee will accept. |
| 10 | EY Ireland | Ireland | Consulting, assurance, tax and transaction services | Tenth for the same reason. Right when the programme is mostly people and the technology is the smaller half. |
| 11 | KPMG Ireland | Ireland | Audit, tax, deal advisory and consulting | Eleventh for the same reason. Right when a supervisor is the real audience and governance is the deliverable. |
| 12 | Digiton Dynamics | Portugal and Estonia, working in 8 countries | Production AI agents, agentic systems, workflow automation and retrieval, built and then operated | We put ourselves last because we are not an Irish firm and proximity is a real criterion. Rank us higher only if you want the build and the run in one contract. |
Who ranking for "AI consulting Dublin" is actually working in Ireland
Run the search and read the bylines. The page holding the top slot is "13 Best AI Consulting Companies in Dublin, Ireland", published by FlyPix AI, a vendor that ranks itself first on its own list and publishes neither criteria nor a comparison table. Second on that list is AI Superior, which runs the same city template across Lisbon, Dublin, Stockholm and Zurich.
None of that makes those firms bad at the work. It makes the ranking uninformative. A list whose author is entry one, with no stated method, is telling you about content marketing rather than about the Irish market. Acuity is one of the few Irish firms defending its own country query, which says how little contested this search is.
The market column above exists so you can run the same test on this page. Digiton is Portuguese and Estonian and sits twelfth.
The firms in detail
1. Version 1
Irish-headquartered, and the one that put a Dublin headquarters and AI studio on its own front page. Cloud, data and AI integration sit next to application modernisation and managed services, which is the honest shape of most Irish enterprise AI work. That is also the risk. Ask what proportion of your account is modernisation rather than AI, because the former is the bigger business and it will decide who is actually on your team.
2. Nearform
Waterford-based, engineering-first, and unusual in this market for leading with engineers rather than with a consulting menu. Suited to a buyer whose problem is a product to build, not a strategy to write. Ask to meet the people who will write the code, because that is what you are buying.
3. Gemmo AI
A Dublin team with a Milan lab, selling a path from opportunity identification through deployment to ongoing optimisation. The monitoring layer is the interesting part, because most Irish AI projects have no answer for what happens in month seven, and the ones that fail quietly fail there.
4. Clearlead
Founder-led, with the promise that the person you speak to does the work. Right when the organisation does not yet know which problem to solve. Wrong when it does, because you will pay for a discovery you did not need.
5. Acuity
Kildare-based and Ireland-wide, and the clearest Irish competitor to the position this page argues for. It sells EU AI Act readiness and board advisory rather than builds, and it publishes fixed fees instead of a day rate, which is rare enough here to be worth naming. If your problem is a board that needs an opinion and a governance position, start there.
6. Square Root Solutions
A Dublin development shop that leads with AI on its own menu rather than tucking it into a services footnote, and sells mobile, web and custom app work alongside it. Good when the AI has to arrive inside a product somebody is building anyway, because the same team ships both halves. Ask who owns the model once the app ships.
7. AI Strategy and Training Ltd.
Roadmap work, governance and team training. This is groundwork, and it is worth buying separately and early. Do not expect a running system at the end of it. Do expect your staff to stop being frightened of the tools, which in most Irish firms is the actual blocker.
8 to 11. Accenture, Deloitte, EY and KPMG Ireland
Ireland's Big Four presence is large relative to the size of the economy, because so many multinationals run European operations from Dublin. Buy them when part of what you need is an opinion a supervisor or an audit committee will accept, or when procurement will only clear a supplier of that size. Expect the pitch team to be more senior than the delivery team. Name people in the contract.
12. Digiton Dynamics
Portuguese and Estonian, building production agents and retrieval systems and then operating them across 8 countries. For an Irish buyer the argument is that the rulebook is identical, GDPR and Article 50 are designed in from the first commit rather than retrofitted, and the engagement continues as a managed retainer instead of ending at handover. If proximity matters more than that, hire Version 1 or Nearform. The wider European view is on enterprise AI consulting in Europe, and the London equivalent of this document is the 2026 London ranking.
How to choose between them
- A large incumbent estate that has to keep running. Version 1.
- A product to build. Nearform, or Square Root Solutions if AI is one feature inside it.
- A board or a supervisor to satisfy. Acuity for the governance position, one of the Big Four when procurement demands the size, and budget separately for whoever builds what they specify.
- No agreed problem yet. Clearlead or AI Strategy and Training, bought small, before anybody commits a build budget.
- A system that has to still work in month twelve. Gemmo for the monitoring layer, or Digiton if you want the operating phase in the same contract.
What the EU AI Act means for an Irish buyer in 2026
Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, the Digital Omnibus on AI, was signed on 8 July 2026 and entered into force on 27 July 2026. It moved the Annex III standalone high-risk obligations off 2 August 2026 and onto 2 December 2027. Annex I product-embedded systems moved to 2 August 2028. Article 50 transparency duties were not moved. They applied from 2 August 2026 and they bind today. The Article 5 prohibitions have applied since February 2025.
Ireland matters here out of proportion to its size, because so many US technology companies place AI systems on the EU market through a Dublin entity, and that entity carries the obligations. The extra eighteen months bought classification time rather than a holiday. Classification is the prerequisite for every later obligation, so the firms using the delay to finish their inventory will be the ones not scrambling in late 2027. The full read is on EU AI Act readiness for enterprises.
Frequently asked questions
Which AI consulting firms actually work in the Dublin market?
Version 1, Gemmo AI, Clearlead, Square Root Solutions and AI Strategy and Training Ltd. all present themselves as Dublin or Irish firms on their own sites, and Accenture, Deloitte, EY and KPMG all run Irish practices. Nearform is Irish and works from Co. Waterford. Acuity covers Dublin, Cork and the rest of the country. Several of the pages ranking for this search are published by vendors with no Irish presence at all.
How much does AI consulting cost in Ireland?
Almost nobody publishes a rate. Acuity is the exception and sells fixed-fee engagements rather than hourly billing. Everyone else quotes against scope. The useful question is not the rate but whether the price includes running the system after launch, because that is where most Irish AI budgets get surprised.
Does the EU AI Act apply to an Irish company using AI?
Yes. Ireland is an EU member state, so the AI Act applies directly. Article 5 prohibitions have applied since February 2025 and Article 50 transparency duties since 2 August 2026. The Annex III high-risk obligations moved to 2 December 2027 under Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, which entered into force on 27 July 2026.
Why does Ireland matter more than its size for the EU AI Act?
Because many US technology companies place AI systems on the EU market through a Dublin entity, and that entity carries the provider or deployer obligations. A Dublin subsidiary can end up holding compliance duties for products designed elsewhere.
Should I hire an Irish firm or an EU firm from another country?
Hire Irish when proximity, the same time zone and Irish public sector experience matter. Hire elsewhere in the EU when the skill is scarce and the rulebook is identical anyway, which it is across the single market. GDPR and the AI Act do not change at the border.
What should I ask an AI consultancy in Dublin before signing?
Ask who operates the system after launch, how erasure works once personal data has reached embeddings, which named people will do the delivery rather than the pitch, and whether the firm has classified your use case under the AI Act. Twelve full questions are on our vendor guide.
Why does this ranking not list addresses, headcounts or client names?
Because a ranking earns its keep from the ranking, the comparison and the reasoning, and those cells do none of that work. They age between the day they are copied and the day you read them, and they invite the reader to check a directory record instead of checking the argument. What we do publish is a live URL, the market each firm serves, what it says it does, and our stated reason for the placement.
Is Digiton Dynamics an Irish firm?
No. Digiton is a Portuguese and Estonian firm and it appears last on its own list for that reason. It works with Irish buyers under the same EU rulebook, in 8 countries.
